Removable wallpaper

I am always on the web, looking for creative ways to change up the decor in my apartment. Renting is tough because you can’t always paint and drill holes in the walls. So, sometimes you have to get really creative! (Which is right up my alley!)

My new apartment is green everywhere. Green bedroom, living room, dining room … it’s a bit much. The green isn’t a horrible color, but it’s on every wall! I could ask my lovely landlord if I can paint, but it was clear that these walls were freshly painted. I’ve looked at removable wallpaper online numerous times, but never ordered it. It was one of those things I needed to see in person before making the commitment, but my current living situation could really use some!

I was checking out our fellow blogger Young House Love‘s new target line, when I moved into my new apartment. It’s a lovely little collection of hooks and knobs all priced at $15 or less! As I gawked at this end cap in the store, I peered down the aisle at a wide selection of removable wallpaper, with matching paint colors! Such a clever idea. The Store Planner in me was utterly impressed by the way this product was presented on the shelf! The subtle print on the pegboard behind the display and the staggered shelving to display the paint and easily access it are two so subtle, but clean and SMART ways to display merchandise!wallpaper2

Below is the print I purchased. wallpaper

…. But I really wasn’t sure what to do with it. Which is why it hasn’t made it’s way to any of my walls! I didn’t want to cover the entire wall because it would be too heavy and hotel-like. So, I decided to look into cutting it into a design or pattern … Sooo I designed a custom pattern! Then I spent an hour and a half with my exacto knife and ruler … Only to find I had maybe cut enough shapes to cover a 1′ x 1′ space. KILL. ME. NOW.

So I am making this post to hold myself accountable to make some progress on my wallpaper print! In two weeks I will be posting a follow up on my progress with photos! Wish me luck!!
